Love & the Trinity
Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity
The Sunday after Pentecost is celebrated as Trinity Sunday, and it’s one of my favorite Sundays of the year. The doctrine of the Trinity — that God exists as three Persons united in one being — may seem like abstract theology, but it lies at the heart of Christianity because it reveals to us the inner life of God. As people made in the image of God, the more we know about Who and What God is, the more we know about ourselves and who and what we are made to be. In this week’s reflection I try to cut to the chase and get to the heart of what the Trinity is all about by sharing with you my favorite Trinitarian verse in the Bible – 1 Jn 4:8.
