Waiting on God’s Kingdom

The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe (A)

This Sunday the Church celebrates the end of the Liturgical Year with the Great Solemnity of Christ the King. We are reminded that while God’s Kingdom has been inaugurated in the world, it is not yet fully realized. It will not be fulfilled until the world to come, and so the Church (and all Creation) is still in a period of waiting. This is why we continue to pray “Thy Kingdom Come” and Marana-tha (“Come Lord”). In this week’s Sunday Reflection, I talk about why it’s important for us to realize that we are still in a time of waiting, and how we should live while we wait.
