The Ascension of the Lord

This Sunday we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord, which took place 40 days after the Resurrection, when Christ ascended into heaven to take his place at the right hand of the Father. He said that it is better that he go, so that he might send the Holy Spirit (See Jn 16:7). But why didn’t the Holy Spirit come right away? Why did the Apostles have to wait nine more days until Pentecost? We don’t know the answer to that question, and neither did the Apostles. Jesus said, “It is not for you to know the times or seasons that the Father has established.” Not knowing can be frustrating. How do we deal with not knowing? The Apostles give us a model of faith to follow, which is what we speak about in this week’s reflection.
