Doing the Impossible
19th Sunday of Ordinary Time (A)
In this Sundays gospel, Jesus tells Peter to do something that is utterly beyond his ability to do — walk on water. Yet Peter does just that, with the help of Christ. God also calls each of us to do the impossible. He calls us mere creatures to an intimate union with himself. He calls us to holiness, and he gives us the power to answer that call. Just like St. Peter, we can do the impossible if we keep our focus on Jesus and call out to him when we need help.
