Snow Alert: No Campus Mass this Sunday

Due to the predicted winter storm coming through our area from Saturday evening through Sunday evening, Father Paul has decided to cancel the 4:00 PM Mass on campus for this Sunday, January 16.

He has added an additional Vigil Mass in English at St. Mary’s at 5:00 PM on Saturday, January 15, in addition to the normally scheduled Vigil Mass in Spanish at 7:00 PM. He will be available for Confessions at 4:00 PM.

As the rectory is within walking distance of the parish church, Father will still celebrate the 8:30 AM and 11:30 AM Masses for anyone who is able to make it to the church, but made the decision earlier today to cancel the 4:00 PM Mass on campus which he would need to drive to.

Students are encouraged to attend one of the Vigil Masses this evening at St. Mary’s.

Bishop Jugis announced earlier today that he is dispensing the faithful from the obligation to attend Mass for this weekend due to the coming winter storm.

While Catholic faithful are ordinarily obliged to worship at Mass on Sunday (or at a Saturday vigil), this obligation is not binding upon those who are ill, taking care of those who are ill, or who are physically not able to attend due to lack of transportation or dangerous travel conditions.

The obligation to keep Sunday as the Lord’s Day by observing rest and prayer may be fulfilled by other means, including the prayerful reading of scripture, praying the Liturgy of the Hours, the rosary, or some other private devotion.

Please enjoy the snow and be safe!
